I grew up the son of a Southern Baptist preacher in Minneapolis, MN. I hold political science degrees from Rice University, located in Houston, TX, and the University of California, San Diego, and currently live with my wife in Cambridge, MA.
As a writer, my primary interest is in politics, particularly the intersection of politics and the media. When I’m not writing, I keep up with current events on cable news, the New York Times, and ESPN; I read history, political theory, and fantasy novels; and I spend more time playing online computer games than I would care to admit.
Democracy Despite Itself is my first book, and I maintain a blog at www.leftfielder.org.
